Western Baptist physicians continue to break ground in cardiac care through instruction. Cardiologist J. Kenneth Ford, M.D., and other physicians at Western Baptist train doctors regionally, including those from centers as far away as Louisville, St. Louis and Nashville.
Ford recently trained regional cardiologists in PFO (patent foramen ovale) closure, or “hole in the heart,” procedures.
“Often, people think that if they go to larger cities like Nashville, they will receive care from a more experienced or better trained physician,” said Ford. “But that’s not always the case. Many times, Baptist’s own physicians are, in fact, training doctors at larger facilities.”
Ford said Western Baptist’s cardiac program is fortunate to benefit from advanced technology and equipment, highly skilled physicians and staff, and a supportive administration.
“We take great pride in the confidence and ability of our staff and program,“ Ford said, “and we’re happy to share that knowledge and expertise nationwide.”
In addition to teaching cardiac procedures, physicians at Western Baptist participate in clinical trials and research to enhance the hospital’s cardiac program.
