Construction Progresses on New Baptist Heart Center

undefinedFor those needing advanced cardiac care, the opening of the new $20 million Baptist Heart Center in June will provide convenience and an unmatched level of care in the region.

The 79,000-square-foot facility has been strategically designed to provide immediate access from the emergency department, where many cardiac problems are first diagnosed. The new center will have two levels and a helicopter pad on the rooftop.

The first floor will house all nonsurgical procedures, including cardiac cath labs, echocardiology, nuclear cardiology, ultrasound and stress-testing facilities. The Cardiac Rehabilitation department also will relocate to the first level. The second level will feature an auditorium for physician seminars and events.

Cardiologist James Gwinn, M.D., said the new Baptist Heart Center will be a tremendous benefit to cardiac patients and families in the region.

“Having this level of care in a facility entirely dedicated to the treatment of heart disease is remarkable,” said Gwinn. “For the patient, it means not having to travel to larger cities for advanced care and treatment. For physicians, it means having the latest technologies, equipment and resources at our fingertips.”
