Emergency room charge nurse Alvita Jones, R.N., knows that one of the most important things a patient needs when he or she arrives at the hospital is hope. That’s why she gives patients not only the best care possible, but also a hand to hold.

“My sole purpose is to take care of people,” said Jones. “I ask the Lord to direct my path every time I come to work.”

Jones recalls caring for a woman who had a heart attack while she was at the hospital visiting a patient. Staff immediately began treating her and saved her life.

“A week later, she walked back in and hugged me,” said Jones. “That’s the kind of joy I get from working here.”

Jones isn’t alone in carrying out the hospital’s mission of help and healing. At Western Baptist, all employees have your health at heart.
