| Baptist Imaging Center’s open MRI provides physicians with exceptional diagnostic quality and patients with the comfort of an open space. |
For many people who need an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), the thought of the machine’s tight space may cause anxiety. Baptist Imaging Center’s open MRI offers a comfortable solution.
The center features the latest generation in open MRI systems: the Panorama 1.0T from Philips Medical Systems. Western Baptist Hospital is the first hospital in the area and one of the first four hospitals in the nation to provide this technology.
Vernon Duncan, M.D., radiologist at Western Baptist, said claustrophobic and other patients may prefer open MRI systems. “This technology’s high-field magnet provides physicians with good diagnostic quality images,” he said, “and the design provides patients with the comfort of an open space.”
