When Paducahan Dorothy Taylor experienced shortness of breath and swelling in her extremities, she sought treatment from Dr. Gwinn, who diagnosed her with CHF—a condition that affects half a million Americans.
By making lifestyle changes and educating herself on proper care, Taylor resumed a normal life. She eats healthy and makes walking part of her daily routine.
She found Western Baptist’s Understanding Heart Failure classes particularly helpful.
“The classes help patients learn more about congestive heart failure, its symptoms and treatment,” said Dr. Gwinn. “Patients learn what they can do to help themselves, particularly with diet, exercise and medical compliance.”
