According to a study in a recent issue of the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, long-term and heavy smokers have about a 50 percent increased risk for progressive kidney disease. The study confirms that smoking is a significant but preventable risk factor for kidney disease. Western Baptist Hospital is proud to partner with the Kentucky Cancer Program to offer smoking cessation classes to the community. Utilizing the Cooper-Clayton approach, these classes provide participants with the education and support they need to kick the habit and restore their health.
