| Too much sunlight ups the risk for age-related maculopathy (ARM), the most common cause of vision loss in older Americans. Scientists studied the link between sun exposure and ARM in people ages 43 to 86. Those who got more than five hours of sun daily during their teens, in their 30s, and at the start of the study were twice as likely to develop early signs of ARM, compared with those who got about two hours of sun daily. Fortunately, shielding your eyes with sunglasses or a brimmed hat may help safeguard your eyesight. - Archives of Ophthalmology | |
