eCards keep women connected across two continents

Long-time friends Martha Duncan Anastasiou and Willa Graham always have kept in touch, even when Anastasiou moved from Paducah to France more than eight years ago.

When Graham was hospitalized recently, Anastasiou wanted to brighten her days with get well cards. Mailing a card from France, however, took too long, so Anastasiou reached instead for her computer.

She clicked on Western Baptist’s eCards to send a card to her dear friend.

“I used eCards every day Willa was in the hospital,” said Anastasiou. “She looked forward to it, and it meant so much to me to be able to do this for her. If I had sent a postal card, she would have been out of the hospital before it even arrived.”

Visitors to westernbaptist.com can send electronic patient greetings by clicking on eCards in the Online Tools box. A variety of cards are offered, including get well wishes, baby congratulations and birthday greetings. The eCards are printed and hand-delivered daily by members of Western Baptist’s Auxiliary.

Graham said getting an eCard each day was a highlight of her hospital stay.

“It really cheered my day,” said Graham. “I appreciate the service so much.”
