Withrow named to cardiology board
Patrick Withrow, M.D., medical director of the Baptist Heart Center, has been appointed to a two-year term on the Board of Governors for the Kentucky chapter of the American College of Cardiology.
He is one of two representatives from the Western District.
The board is made up of 10 representatives from four districts in Kentucky. It is led by Governor David J. Moliterno, M.D., co-director of the Gill Heart Institute and chief of cardiovascular medicine at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine.
The board provides education and networking opportunities for about 200 Kentucky cardiovascular specialists, including physicians, nurses and physician assistants.
An interventional cardiologist, Dr. Withrow practiced at Western Baptist from 1981 until 2007, when he became director of the new heart center. It is the first Kentucky heart center of its kind west of Louisville.
Western Baptist has been a cardiac leader for more than 30 years, including offering the area’s first open-heart surgery in 1985 to recently receiving west Kentucky’s first national accreditation for chest pain treatment.
