Western Baptist shines at Relay for Life

Raising more than $52,000 and earning multiple team awards, Western Baptist Hospital shined as brightly as team members’ neon orange shirts at the 2008 McCracken County Relay for Life. Team captain Kay Dickey wasn’t surprised.

“Every year, Western Baptist staff put their hearts into this event,” said Dickey. “Their generosity and devotion are remarkable.”

Top fundraising departments were the Engineering department, with $8,600, and Pharmacy, $2,500.

Western Baptist earned “The Last Team Standing” and “Best Theme Campsite” awards at Relay for Life. Tim Thurston and Marcus Turnley, physician assistants with Drs. Edwin Grogan and Daniel Howard, captured Miss Relay honors, earning more than $1,000 for Western Baptist’s team.  Paducah resident George Korth was the winner of the Western Baptist-sponsored cruise giveaway, another large team fundraiser for the hospital.
