WBH to give 'Dickens of a Gift' to community

Visitors to the annual Holiday Health Extravaganza will receive a free WBH snow globe. Ten free health screenings in a festive holiday atmosphere of caroling and gingerbread make “A Dickens of a Gift” for Western Baptist Hospital’s annual Holiday Health Extravaganza on Saturday, Dec. 1.

The sights, sounds and smells of a Dickens-era Christmas will fill the air from 9 a.m. to noon in the atrium of Doctors Office Building 2. The atrium will be transformed into a bustling Dickens village, and WBH’s volunteer staff will be dressed in period costumes.

“We provide refreshments and gifts,” said Dona Rains, Marketing director, “but the greatest gift to the community is the opportunity to get life-saving health screenings, including a carotid artery test just added this year.”

Other screenings include cholesterol and blood sugar, blood pressure, EKG rhythm strip testing, posture and body fat. Fasting for screenings is not necessary, and no advance registration is required.

Also on hand will be hospital representatives with information about new technologies and programs in diagnostic imaging, cardiac care, cancer care and 55Plus services.

Visitors should park in the parking garage for easiest access. For more information, phone Baptist Health Line at (270) 575-2918.
