On HealthBreak: New rooftop helipad saves time, lives
On an upcoming “HealthBreak,” Emergency room physician Brian Hawkins, M.D., will discuss the new heliport atop the Baptist Heart Center.
Within minutes, patients from outlying areas can be transported to Baptist’s Emergency department, saving time and, more importantly, lives.
“Our new helipad really saves time getting the patient evaluated quicker,” said Dr. Hawkins. “Its proximity to the E.R. means people can be flown in quickly, taken out of the helicopter and brought into the hospital very fast.”
Len Philpot, pilot for PHI Air Medical Services, said the new helipad is the largest rootop pad in this area.
“This helipad is state of the art,” said Philpot.
