WBH receives ACR accreditation
Western Baptist Hospital’s ultrasound department has been re-accredited for three years by the American College of Radiology (ACR) in diagnostic ultrasound for obstetrics, gynecology and general ultrasound services.
Betty Brown, Women’s Center Diagnostic Imaging supervisor, said it’s important for people to choose an accredited facility.
“For accreditation, the ACR establishes criteria for radiologists, technologists and equipment,” said Brown. “Image quality also is judged.”
Other ACR-accredited radiology services at Western Baptist include MRI, CT, nuclear medicine, radiation oncology, stereotactic breast biopsy and mammography.
Western Baptist is the area’s only Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, a designation awarded last year by the ACR for accredited mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. Western Baptist ranks among the top 3 percent of hospitals nationwide to earn the prestigious designation.
Brown said the radiology staff works diligently to meet and exceed high standards.
“The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for high standards after a peer review evaluation,” said Brown. “We take pride in our staff and equipment and strive to exceed our patients’ expectations.”
