Recent ACR Accreditations
Western Baptist Hospital has been awarded a 3-year term of accreditation in both Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Therapy as a result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The recent accreditation marks the third consecutive year the hospital’s Radiation Therapy department has received the distinction.
The ACR, headquartered in Reston, Va. awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of the practice. Board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field conduct evaluations. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment. The surveyors report their findings to the ACR’s Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report.
According to Bob Seely, Director of Radiology at Western Baptist Hospital, the accreditation is a testament to the quality and dedication of the hospital’s radiology services and programs.
“We have a dedicated group of professionals who strive to provide excellence in patient care,” said Seely. “As we continually introduce new technologies, new equipment and new treatments and therapies, the community as a whole benefits. We are proud of our accomplishments as we embrace the future of radiology with great expectations.”
Seely joins Western Baptist Hospital Diagnostic Imaging Coordinator, Mike Tutor, in extending thanks to radiology staff members for their efforts during the accreditation process.
The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
