The Women's Center at Western Baptist Hospital brings a broad range of women's health care services together in one special place.

Women's Diagnostic Services

The Women's Center makes it easier than ever for women to receive routine mammography and other special diagnostic services, because it offers:

• Breast diagnostic services, including mammography for the early detection of breast cancer and ultrasound and stereotactic breast biopsy for evaluating lumps without surgery;
• Bone densitometry for the detection and ongoing evaluation of osteoporosis;
• Abdominal ultrasound for use during pregnancy or to diagnose gynecological problems; and
• Laboratory services available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Educational Programs

The Women's Center at Western Baptist Hospital sponsors many educational programs of special interest to women.

• Girl Talk, to teach preadolescent girls about the menstrual cycle and reproduction.
• Baby Brunch: Infant Massage Class to teach new moms and dads the basics of infant massage.
• Maternal Child Programs and Classes to prepare the whole family for the new baby's arrival, including:  
  • Prepared Childbirth Classes are for expectant parents in their third trimester. Topics include anatomy and physiology of late pregnancy; relaxation and breathing techniques; signs and symptoms of labor; stages of labor and delivery.
  • Breastfeeding Class is a one-time class that meets each month to prepare expectant parents for their breastfeeding experience.
  • Sibling Class helps prepare children for the arrival of a new brother or sister. The information is designed to promote family bonding and decrease anxiety in children who may feel threatened by a new baby.
  • Childbirth Refresher Class is for families who experiencing their 2nd time around or more. This class provides updates and tips on the birth experience.
  • Caesarean Class helps prepare mothers for a Caesarean delivery. This is a one-time class that may be taken in conjunction with childbirth preparation classes or by itself if the mother knows she is having a Caesarean delivery.
  • Men Have Babies, Too!helps prepare expectant fathers for their changing roles and special place in the family.
  • Grandparenting Class helps prepare grandparents for their role in the child-rearing process
• Lunch & Learn, individual classes that cover many different women's health issues and include a sack lunch.
