Cardiac Rehabilitation at Western Baptist Hospital
Western Baptist Hospital's Cardiac Rehabilitation Program helps heart patients recover by minimizing physical complications, improving functional capacity and promoting self-responsibility. It also helps families adjust and provides psychological support to patients during recovery.

Cariac Rehabilitation To help you reach your optimal level of cardiovascular fitness, we offer individual exercise prescriptions and educational programs designed to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle. The four-phase program includes;

Phase I.

Your physician may request a Cardiac Rehab Phase I program while you are in the hospital. This educational program is designed to teach you about your specific cardiac problem. Physical therapy may provide an exercise regimen specific to patients' needs.

Phase II.

This is a nine-week program that meets Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at Western Baptist Hospital. Each session lasts 90 minutes. This includes one hour of closely monitored exercise and 30 minutes of instruction on risk factor modification. Even though the exercise program is monitored, participants must notify personnel immediately of any discomfort or pain. A special Tuesday/Thursday class is available for people who live a great distance from Paducah or cannot attend the Monday/Wednesday/Friday sessions.

Phase III.

This is a maintenance program for people who have completed Phase II. It is a closely supervised exercise program that meets one hour on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the hospital. Your heart rhythm will be monitored once every six weeks.

Phase IV.

Baptist Family Fitness has now introduced a Phase IV Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.  Phase IV is an exercise program designed to encourage participants to continue exercise after graduation from Phase III.  The participant may enroll within 90 days of graduation from Phase III to receive a discounted rate, and have his or her health enrollment fee waived. Upon joining the program, he or she will be given a full assessment by an exercise specialist, who can then personalize an exercise program to meet that person’s specific needs.

Phase IV participants will be required to have a pre and post exercise blood pressure reading and body weight assessment and exercise charts will be maintained to track progress. While enrolled in the Phase IV program, participants will have full access to the Baptist Family Fitness facility.Exercise specialists are available Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. until 10 p.m.
