Western Baptist Hospital Auxiliary
Since its beginning in 1953, Western Baptist Hospital's Auxiliary has played a major role in providing hospitality services to patients and families and raising funds for the purchase of equipment and educational materials.
Current membership consists of more than 300 individuals who have a broad base of experience and represent a variety of age groups. Members contribute some 30,000 volunteer hours to the hospital every year. Many members see the auxiliary as a way to add fulfillment to their lives. Our volunteers make a real difference by providing all the little extras our patients have come to appreciate. Volunteers are very much a part of The Healing Force at Western Baptist Hospital.
The auxiliary's primary purpose is to assist hospital personnel, patients and visitors. Volunteers work in more than 14 different areas of Western Baptist Hospital, including information desks, transport, the chaplains office and various waiting rooms. In addition, the auxiliary operates the gift shop and sponsors LIFELINE, a residential emergency response system.
The auxiliary also raises money to purchase equipment, educational materials, Bibles for babies and scholarships. Funds are raised through gift shop operations, book sales, bake sales, an annual quilt show and other events. Through their fundraising efforts, the auxiliary has been involved with every new addition to Western Baptist Hospital. Their latest contribution is the six-foot-tall, copper Tree of Life sculpture and waterfall which greets patients and visitors at the hospital's main entrance.
