Western Baptist Hospital has lactation consultants to support women who want to breastfeed by teaching them how to make breastfeeding easy, convenient and enjoyable.

Healthcare professionals know that human milk is the ideal food for human infants - and that makes breastfeeding the best choice for mothers and their babies. Breastfeeding helps babies bond with their mothers and produces healthier babies with fewer respiratory and gastrointestinal problems.

Breastfeeding is a learned art, not a reflex. During the breastfeeding exerience, mothers often have questions or concerns. Most difficulties women encounter are the result of misinformation and lack of knowledge.

Our certified lactation consultants helps prepare pregnant women for the breastfeeding experience through a one-time Breastfeeding Class. During the postpartum hospital stay, one-on-one support and counseling as well as informative literature are provided.
