Western Baptist will honor Certified Nurses
In recognition of Certified Nurses Day, Western Baptist Hospital will honor nearly 100 nurses who have achieved the distinction of national board certification with a tea on March 16.
In addition to the registered nurse license allowing nurses to practice, certification affirms advanced knowledge, skill and practice to meet the challenges of modern nursing. Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center requires an active RN license, appropriate education, a certain amount of experience in a specialty area and proficiency on the certification exam.
Polly Bechtold, R.N., vice president of nursing, and Robin Cooper, R.N., assistant vice president of nursing, will host the tea.
“We are proud of the Western Baptist nurses who have demonstrated professional development by becoming certified in their field,” Bechtold said. “Certification demonstrates a willingness to gain the knowledge and skills that helps us continue to provide excellent care to our patients.”
