Western Baptist to host annual trauma symposium May 15-16
Physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals are invited to a two-day symposium on trauma care May 15-16 at the Baptist Heart Center.
The event will begin at 6:15 p.m. Friday, May 15, with keynote speaker Jeffrey Guy, M.D., director of the Vanderbilt Regional Burn Center, on “Emergency Burn Care: The First 72 Hours.” Melissa Platt, M.D., assistant professor at the University of Louisville, also will speak Friday. The evening session continues until 9:15 p.m.
Saturday speakers include Western Baptist Hospital emergency department director Patricia Scott, R.N., and emergency room physician Brian Hawkins, M.D. Dennis Beck, orthopedic trauma director at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, also will speak. The session is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Contact hours in nursing are available to qualifying participants. Registration fees are $15 per session or $25 for both. Reservations are required by phoning Western Baptist’s Education department at (270) 575-2723.
