Western Baptist to host Cardiovascular Awareness Day



Western Baptist Hospital will present free health screenings and information about the risk factors of heart disease and stroke at Cardiovascular Awareness Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, March 19, at the Ballard County Chamber of Commerce on U.S. 60 in La Center.

Neurologist Jacqueline Carter, M.D., and cardiologist Patrick Withrow, M.D., vice president and chief medical officer of Western Baptist, will give 30-minute presentations about stroke and cardiovascular awareness.

Free screenings include cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, carotid assessment, smoke checks and body mass index. Educational materials on healthy eating, smoking cessation, alcohol abuse and diabetes education will be provided.
