Western Baptist hosts free CPR training
Western Baptist will celebrate the 50th anniversary of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with a free seminar on June 26.
In 1960, a group of resuscitation pioneers combined mouth-to-mouth breathing with chest compressions to create CPR. This action, when provided immediately after a sudden cardiac arrest, can double – even triple – a victim’s chance of survival, according to the American Heart Association.
Families and groups are invited to learn proper CPR techniques at a free training workshop Saturday, June 26, in the Baptist Heart Center Auditorium. Two sessions will be offered:
- 9 to 11 a.m.
- 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Western Baptist Hospital’s Auxiliary has purchased 45 CPR kits for participants. Certified CPR instructors at Western Baptist will train families and provide take-home kits, including instructional DVDs and a practice mannequin. People receiving the kits will be encouraged to share them with other groups.
Instructors also will review use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), available now in many public places.
Space is limited, so reservations are required. To reserve your space, phone (270) 575-2723.
