Red Cross recognizes Western Baptist blood drive

Debbie Taffer, Western Baptist Hospital lab director, (right), and Cindy Powell, lab coordinator, have been recognized by the American Red Cross for improvements in the hospital employee blood drives.
Anthony Tinin, Red Cross donor recruitment representative, said Taffer and Powell have hosted 12 blood drives in three years, collecting 560 units of blood from employees.
“Since June 2008, the Western Baptist blood program has increased blood donations from an average of 27 units per blood drive to an average of 46 units per blood drive,” Tinin said. “That is a 70 percent increase over a three-year period.”
