Kohl's books and plush toys benefit Western Baptist Foundation

Western Baptist Hospital president and CEO Larry Barton (left), and Rodney Hall, manager of the Kohl’s Department Store in Paducah, display a few of the plush toys that benefit children’s health and educational opportunities through the Western Baptist Hospital Foundation.
Kohl’s Department Store in Paducah is donating 100 percent of the net profit of its $5 books and exclusive plush toys to children’s health and educational opportunities through the Western Baptist Hospital Foundation.
The books and plush toys are the newest offering from the Kohl’s Care cause merchandise program. Since 2000, Kohl’s stores have turned $5 merchandise into more than $150 million to help make a positive difference in the lives of children.
“We are very excited about this partnership with Kohl’s,” said Laurie Latham, director of the Western Baptist Hospital Foundation. “The funds generated through this program will help improve the health of the children in the region.”
The Foundation raises funds to help the hospital purchase medical equipment, enhance hospital facilities and expand patient services, such as the recent Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Now through April, the Kohl’s merchandise features books and toys by author Eric Carle. A different author is featured each quarter.
In addition to the merchandise program, Kohl’s Cares features a scholarship program, which recognizes more than 2,100 young volunteers with scholarships and prizes; the Associates in Action program, which encourages associate volunteerism and provided more than $10 million in grants to youth-focused nonprofit organizations last year alone; and fundraising gift cards for schools and youth-serving organizations.
