Golf tourney raises $75,000 for Western Baptist's foundation



Western Baptist Hospital Foundation’s annual golf tournament raised nearly $75,000 to help the foundation purchase medical equipment, enhance hospital facilities and expand patient services.

“I am very pleased with the number of sponsors, participants and volunteers, who were so very willing to support the Western Baptist Hospital Foundation,” said Laurie Latham, director of Western Baptist’s business and fund development.

More than 175 golfers took a swing at the charity event, which took place Monday at the Country Club of Paducah. The Covidien team of Joseph Mayo, M.D., Steve Cope, Jamie Smith and Dustin Waggoner carried home the traveling trophy, earning the best score among 44 teams.

“By supporting the golf tournament, golfers and sponsors are helping us meet the healthcare needs of our community through the purchase of new equipment and technology, as well as the expansion of hospital facilities and patient services,” said Larry Barton, Western Baptist president and CEO.

Tournament winners include Todd Isenberg, who won a Bushnell Range Finder in a model airplane demonstration.

Morning winners included Covidien, first place; Jeremy Smith Law, second place; Linwood Paducah-Metropolis, third place; Humana, random draw winner; Tommy Stafford and Dustin Waggoner, closest to the pin and Jim Croley, longest drive.

Afternoon winners included Medical Accounts Receivable Systems, first place; Western Baptist Hospital, second place; Paducah Bank, third place; Petter Business Systems, random draw winner; Larry Jarvis and Jim Woods, closest to the pin and Tony Threatt, longest drive.

The event’s Gold sponsors were Aramark; Morrison Management Specialists; Radiopharmacy of Paducah, Inc.; Ray Black & Son Inc.; Western Baptist Hospital’s Auxiliary and WPSD Local 6.
