Foundation luncheon to feature fashion show, NICU panel
Reidland Middle School teacher Stephanie Rathgeber credits the Baptist Health Paducah NICU with easing her family’s burden after her twin daughters were born premature in August 2012.
The close proximity allowed Rathgeber and her husband, Shaun, who live in Hickory, to care for their toddler son during their daughters’ six-week NICU stay.
Rathgeber will share her story at “Open Your Heart and Kick Up Your Heels,” a women’s luncheon hosted by Baptist Health Foundation Paducah to benefit the region’s only Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The event, set for Thursday, March 6, will also feature a physician panel discussion on the NICU, a fashion show and shopping.
Rathgeber said the NICU blessed their family. “The NICU at Baptist was so much more than a hospital stay,” she said. “The doctors and nurses got to know us personally, and they cared for our children as if they were their own. I truly believe that the staff of the Baptist NICU is in the business of facilitating miracles and that our community has been enriched because we now have the best in the business right in our backyard.”
The women’s event will begin at 10 a.m. in the Baptist Heart Center auditorium with shopping at local vendors’ booths and live entertainment, followed by lunch and a fashion show by Nola’s Boutique at noon.
At 12:30 p.m. Rathgeber will join a physician panel on women’s health including neonatologist Edward O’Neill, MD, and obstetrician/gynecologist Blair Tolar, MD.
Vendors include Frostings by Icy, Wahl’s Garden Shoppe, Thirty-One, Energy Fitness, Jo’s Baskets and Gifts, Dove Chocolate Discoveries, ItWorks and Trades of Hope.
Tickets are $30 each, and table sponsorships are available for tables of eight or four. Seating is limited. Phone the foundation at 270.575.2871 for reservations or more information. Parking is available at 24th and Kentucky Avenue near the Baptist Heart Center entrance.
