Eli Lilly art exhibit to be displayed at Baptist Health Paducah
“Lilly Oncology on Canvas,” an art exhibit sponsored by the Eli Lilly pharmaceutical company, will be displayed Oct. 12-25 in the atrium of Baptist Health Paducah’s Doctors Office Building 2.
The exhibit features about 30 paintings from the company’s annual competitions since 2004. This is the first time the national touring exhibit has visited Paducah.
Lilly Oncology sponsors the annual competition to help patients and their caregivers cope with the emotional effects of cancer; the 2012 winners will be announced in November.
Baptist Health Paducah, whose cancer treatment program is among the nation’s top 5 percent, sponsors a variety of cancer support and awareness initiatives, including the local Faces of Cancer art exhibit and the Pink Glove Dance. “Just as we are committed to providing quality treatment and service for our patients,” said Jeffrey Triplett, M.D., cancer committee chair, “it is important for the hospital to support programs to lift up those struggling with this disease and celebrate those who survive.”
Along with the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, Lilly Oncology invites people affected by cancer in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada to submit art or narrative expressing life-affirming changes that result from their cancer journeys.
More than 3,600 people have participated in the competition.
