Dr. Patrick Withrow wins American Heart Association award



Cardiologist Patrick Withrow, M.D., vice president and chief medical officer of Western Baptist Hospital, recently received the 2010 Leadership Award from the American Heart Association at a meeting of the Coalition For a Healthy Kentucky Youth. 

Dr. Withrow received the award for his leadership as co-chairman of the Kentucky Heart Disease and Stroke Task Force and for his advocacy efforts in addressing the childhood obesity epidemic, according to the AHA.

In addition, Dr. Withrow serves as the cardiovascular expert advisor on the American Heart Association’s Quality Improvement Expert Panel Commission. He serves on the Board of Governors for the Kentucky chapter of the American College of Cardiology and he is a delegate of the Kentucky Medical Association.  

An interventional cardiologist, Dr. Withrow practiced at Western Baptist from 1981 until 2007, when he was named medical director of the Baptist Heart Center.
