Dr. Patrick Withrow appointed to American Heart Association expert panel
Cardiologist Patrick Withrow, M.D., vice president and chief medical officer of Western Baptist Hospital, has been named to the American Heart Association’s Quality Improvement Expert Panel for the five-state Great Rivers Affiliate.
The panel will meet Sept. 24 in Columbus, Ohio, to identify, prioritize and develop strategies to enhance quality improvement efforts through the Great Rivers Affiliate, which serves Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and Delaware.
Dr. Withrow, one of five clinicians serving on the panel, was invited to join the group because of his expertise, passion and commitment to the quality of care for Kentucky’s cardiovascular patients, according to the heart association.
“I feel it is quite an honor to be chosen for a five-state panel,” Dr. Withrow said. “This will bring more awareness to our heart programs, and allow us to help more people.”
Dr. Withrow serves as the Western Baptist’s liaison with the medical staff of more than 240 physicians, as well as assisting in physician recruitment, program development and community education.
An interventional cardiologist, Dr. Withrow practiced at Western Baptist from 1981 until 2007, when he was named medical director of the Baptist Heart Center.
He serves on the Board of Governors for the Kentucky chapter of the American College of Cardiology and as a delegate to the Kentucky Medical Association.
