Bonnie Schrock one of three finalists for state Leadership Award



LEXINGTON – Women Leading Kentucky today announced that Western Baptist Hospital vice president Bonnie Schrock is one of three finalists for its Martha Layne Collins Leadership Award.

 “Bonnie is a strong leader who understands the importance of volunteerism and mentorship, which is what makes her a great example of how women can have an impact in the workplace and the community,” said Janet Holloway, executive director of Women Leading Kentucky. 

The winner will be announced May 18 at the 12th annual Women’s Business & Leadership Conference at Lexington’s Downtown Hilton Hotel.

Schrock serves as a board member on the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce, the West Kentucky Regional Chamber Alliance Board of Directors and the Community Foundation of West Kentucky. Previous volunteer efforts include past fundraising chair for the Kentucky Cancer Consortium, past co-chair of the Western Region March of Dimes WalkAmerica, coach/mentor of the Kentucky affiliate of American College of Healthcare Executives and the Paducah-McCracken County United Way board. 

Schrock is also a mission team member for church work in Tanzania and a volunteer with Women’s Correctional Facility in Fredonia, Ky.

The other two finalists are:

•         Kay Seeley Hoffman, Lexington, the former dean and current professor of Kentucky Conference on Communities and Justice, secured funding for Comprehensive Assessment and Training Services Project, and is the volunteer CEO and co-founder of Center for Human Entrepreneur Solutions. Previous volunteer community efforts include serving as the past co-chair of Lexington Reconciliation Week, past president of the National Council on Social Work Education, an appointment by Gov. Ernie Fletcher to serve on Blue Ribbon Committee on Adoptions and board member of the Women, Families & Children’s Center and Buckhorn Child Welfare Council. Hoffman also has co-authored two books; and

•         Jackie Nicholson, Lexington, a past board member of the Florence Crittenton Home, past fund-raising chair for the Metropolitan Woman’s Club and previously served as president of several organizations, including The Lexington Medical Society Alliance, Ronald McDonald House, the Board for the Children’s Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass and the Lexington Alzheimer’s Association, where she served as co-chairman of the first Memory Walk. Nicholson also co-founded Camp Horsin’ Around and the first public fund raiser for KET.

The conference will feature keynote speaker Dr. Annie McKee, co-founder of the Teleos Leadership Institute, faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School and bestselling business author;  Camille Jayne, CEO of The Jayne Group who formerly led Universal Electronics to be the global leader in wireless control technology; and Laura Liswood, secretary general/co-founder of the Council of Women World Leaders.
