Baptist Health to provide screenings at WPSD Health Fair

Baptist Health Paducah will check your blood pressure and help you become a “deputy” in the fight against heart disease at the WPSD Local6 Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at Kentucky Oaks Mall.

Baptist staff will provide blood pressure screenings and Early Heart Attack Care (EHAC) throughout the day. Participants will be “deputized” after learning to recognize heart attack symptoms.

Outreach director Patrick Withrow, MD, will discuss heart disease in the mall center at 3:30 pm, followed by dietitian Ruth Goodman and student dietitian Katrina Horgan demonstrating healthy recipes at 4:30.

Monitoring risk factors, such as blood pressure and cholesterol, is important in the prevention of heart disease, which remains the nation’s leading killer of men and women.

Baptist Health Paducah was recently one of 197 hospitals recognized among the nation’s best heart hospitals by the American College of Cardiology with the Get with the Guidelines Platinum Performance Award.

For questions about the signs and symptoms of a heart attack, phone the Baptist Health Chest Pain and Stroke Hotline at 1.800.575.1911.
