Baptist Health Paducah radiation oncology earns accreditation
Baptist Health Paducah’s radiation oncology department has been re-accredited for three years by the American College of Radiology.
The program has been accredited since 1998. Accreditation, representing the highest level of quality and patient safety, is awarded only to facilities who meet ACR guidelines following an evaluation by radiation oncologists and physician experts in the field.
“The accreditation is a reflection of the commitment of Baptist Health Paducah and its staff to have a top quality cancer program,” said radiation oncologist Peter Locken, M.D.
Radiation oncology is part of Baptist Health Paducah’s cancer program, which is among just 5 percent in the nation to be named outstanding by the American College of Surgeons. In addition, the hospital has the area’s only Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, a designation awarded by the American College of Radiology for accredited mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.
