Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

The need for the region's first Neonatal Intensive Care Unit was evident at Baptist Health Paducah as soon as it opened its doors in early 2011. Many families have been able to stay close to home when their babies require specialized care.

Nearly half of western Kentucky’s babies are born at Baptist. The NICU allows 98 percent of babies born prematurely or with complications to stay locally with their families. The NICU cares for infants 28 weeks gestation or greater.

These small patients receive care from departments throughout the hospital. Our staff, which includes neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, nurses, respiratory therapists, chaplains and physical therapists was trained at one of the nation’s top children’s hospitals, Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville.
