Periodic Limb Movement

Kicking or jerking of the arms or legs during sleep is commonly referred to as periodic limb movement, which is caused by involuntary muscle contractions.

Sufferers of this disorder often feel restless in their arms or legs prior to falling asleep. Periodic limb movement can occur both with narcolepsy, insomnia and sleep apnea.
